![]() ![]() The right is OK so I go thinking I have right of way and the car on the other side pulls out on me causing me to have to hit the breaks as I'm half way round the roundabout. I briefly stop because it's in a backstreet and you can't see round the corner to see cars approaching on your right. There's someone on the other side in front of me. I'm at a mini roundabout indicating to go right. ![]() ![]() I had to take a break after this as it was making me kind of depressed. I didn't really realise until later that it wasn't normal to take lessons this long. This was after 3 and a half years of weekly lessons. I also think I may have been done for not checking my blindspot when moving off. Interestingly it was the first sort of test in life that made me feel anxious and out or control at school I never got why people felt stressed for exams cause I was always academically bright, but as soon as i sat that first test I could empathise.įirst time I drove in the wrong lane at a roundabout. Across all three tests i got 11 minors which would’ve passed me on a single test, had i not made one major error per test. First one i changed lanes without checking apparently (i did, i just didn’t do it uber blatantly - fucking fuming to this day), second one the instructor had to grab the wheel coz she thought i drove too close to a parked car (imo i was fine snd in control, but at least understandable), third one (same instructor as the first time, hated the fucker coz he just made me uncomfortable the entire time) i didn’t stop at a stop sign (completely accept responsibility on that, i simply did not know they were a thing in england as I’d never seen one before, nor have i since). I passed on my second attempt and probably drove worse that time than my first, and narrowly avoided a major for driving through a red light. If they ask you to do something illegal, don’t do it - everyone deserves a proper driving test and it’s not your fault if they’re over booked. To avoid making the same mistakes, don’t feel scared of standing up for yourself. He had some choice words and reassured me that it wasn’t a fair outcome. When the examiner explained this to my instructor, he was furious - he argued that had I done it at a proper piece of pavement where you can parallel park, I wouldn’t have mounted the curb as I would have felt it doing the manoeuvre. The examiner asked me to do a parallel park over a driveway - I was given allowance to do so since they were very busy, as it’s usually illegal.ĭoing the parallel park, I didn’t realise I had gone up onto the pavement somewhat, as there wasn’t the bump since the curb was dropped. I got a major on my first driving test and failed. It's the sort of thing that happens all the time in regular driving but can't happen on the test.įourth time: passed with three minors! One was stalling in the middle of a big roundabout but as there was no one behind me the examiner said it was a minor driving fault, so all good. Although he was a way off, by the time I'd turned and straightened up, the car was behind me and the driver had to lightly tap his/her brake. I go, but in that gap from when I'd looked left a car appeared in the distance. Third: turning right onto a fairly empty dual carriageway at a junction. ![]() Second time: all good until the manoeuvre (about two mins drive from the test centre, 40 minutes of fault free driving). There was a car behind and examiner said I was out of control. A bit flustered, I change down to 1st, take my foot off the brake. All fine and dandy then just as I'm turning into the corner, someone comes too fast down, wide, and causes me to brake and basically stop. First time: going up a steep, blind corner hill that's only just wide enough for two cars (down on the inside). ![]()
